About UAAR. The UAAR, Union of Atheists and Rationalist Agnostics, is the only national association representing the interests of atheist and agnostic citizens. It is a Social Promotion Association (number 141 in the National Register at the Ministry of Labor, Health, and Social Policies), which allows it to be a recipient of the Cinque per Mille (Five per Thousand) tax donations. The UAAR is completely independent of political parties. It operates throughout Italy through its local groups and representatives.
UAAR values. The values that inspire UAAR’s activities are: eudemonism; rationality; secularism; self-determination; respect for human rights; democracy; pluralism; equality; the enhancement of individuality; freedom of conscience, expression, and research; the acquisition of knowledge through the scientific method; the principle of equal opportunities in institutions for all citizens, without distinction based on sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, philosophical or religious beliefs, political opinions, personal or social conditions.

What the UAAR wants. Our Association pursues the following goals: to protect the civil rights of atheists and agnostics at the national and local levels by opposing all forms of discrimination, both legal and de facto, against them through legal initiatives and awareness campaigns; to contribute to the concrete affirmation of the supreme constitutional principle of the secularity of the state, public schools, and institutions, and to obtain recognition of the full equality before the law of all citizens regardless of their philosophical and religious beliefs. In particular, demanding the abolition of all privileges granted, by law or in fact, to any religion, by virtue of the equality before the law of religions and non-confessional philosophical associations; affirming, within the framework of a secular, rational, and non-religious conception of existence, the right of individuals to make autonomous choices regarding sexuality and reproduction, including those concerning voluntary termination of pregnancy; to enter into legally recognized family unions, without distinction of sex, and to withdraw from them; to freely determine the end of one’s life; to support freedom of scientific, philosophical, and artistic research; to work to ensure that these rights and freedoms are fully sanctioned and effectively guaranteed; to promote the social and cultural enhancement of rational and non-religious worldviews, with particular regard to atheist and agnostic philosophies.
