Islamic Community
of Parma and Province

The Islamic Center has been present in the Parma area since the early 1970s. The first members were university students, then the community gradually expanded thanks to the second generations of these early immigrants. Since then, the Islamic Community Association of Parma and Province has represented Muslims in Parma and serves as their point of reference. The Community immediately realized that problems of social intolerance often arise from a lack of opportunities for communities with different traditions to get to know each other, and it is in this spirit that it celebrates “Hospitality Day,” an evening of meeting and socializing.
The Islamic Center often opens its doors to the public with seminars, conferences, and meetings in order to promote integration.

The “Hospitality Day” was created to put the headquarters and the Association at the service of the city, to make citizens active and break down the barriers that prevent understanding between locals and immigrants. Finally, recognizing the importance of cultural and professional training, the Community offers computer training courses, seminars on import-export management, and Italian and Arabic language courses. It also promotes access to healthcare facilities for foreign women, with the aim of raising awareness of prevention.
